What are the use cases for the stock tank monitor?

The AgriLynk stock tank monitor is perfect for any operation where livestock water access is critical and field accessability is limited. Here are a few common use cases:

  • Remote Pastures: When tanks are far from the house or office, the monitor gives peace of mind without constant driving or guessing.

  • Rotational Grazing: Know if the tank at the next paddock is full before moving cattle.

  • Seasonal Grazing Leases: Monitor tanks on rented land where water issues could lead to lost time—or lost livestock.

  • High-Elevation or Difficult Terrain: Save labor and fuel by checking tank levels remotely in rugged or hard-to-reach pastures.

  • Backup or Overflow Tanks: Monitor reserve tanks that only get used occasionally so you don’t forget about them.

  • Drought & Fire Season: Quickly detect leaks, busted floats, or water loss during high-risk conditions where every gallon matters.

Whether you’re running cow-calf pairs, a sheep operation, or a mixed-grazing program, this system helps you prevent water stress and protect animal health—without burning daylight or diesel.

Does it need internet or electricity?
No. The system is battery-powered with solar recharging and communicates via cellular network, so it works even in off-grid, remote grazing areas, at all hours of the day, rain or shine.

How is the sensor installed?
The pressure sensor mounts securely through a small hole in the sidewall of your tank, near the bottom. It’s a permanent, low-profile install that stays out of the animals’ way and is built to withstand daily abuse in pasture environments.

Will it work with my existing AgriLynk System?
Yes. If you already have an AgriLynk system on your farm, the stock tank monitor and field station can be added to your existing dashboard.

Can I monitor more than one stock tank?
Each Field Station is capable of monitoring multiple tanks as long as they are within range of the Station. We’re currently working on an expansion module for our standard Field Station to double the number of sensors the a single Field Station can monitor.

Contact us if you’d like to hear more.

What kinds of tanks are compatible?
The system works with all common tank materials—plastic, metal, or concrete—as long as the sensor can be securely mounted. Our team can help you determine the best placement based on your setup.

Talk to our team.

How durable is the sensor around livestock?
Very. The sensor is tough, weather-sealed, and built for harsh farm and ranch conditions. Once mounted, it’s protected from direct animal contact and resistant to impact, chewing, and rough handling.

Hear more about this.

Can animals damage the cable?
The cable is routed and secured during installation to stay out of reach. Unlike temporary drop-in sensors, this setup is designed for long-term use in working environments.
